BRINGING LISBON ALIVE: Policies that Create Jobs, Promote Prosperity and Sustain our Social Model

On the eve of the Mid-Term Review of the Lisbon Agenda, the President of the European Commission outlines his vision of a healthy, prosperous Europe, and describes the steps he would like to see Europe – and all Europeans – take to preserve our social model, create jobs and restore vibrancy to our underperforming economy. Mr. Barroso’s lecture – and the subsequent discussion among European reform leaders and top economists in the Lisbon Council network – will feed directly into the European Council Spring Summit to take place in Brussels on 22-23 March.

The Lisbon Council asbl is a Brussels-based non-profit policy network dedicated to making Europe “the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy in the world” by 2010, a goal which European heads of government set in 2000.
